Hi
Can anyone tell me what size bolts and thread I need to fit the sump guard onto the font sub-frame nuts of my Aussie Moke ?
Thanks
Nick

That's the same thread as your wheel nut studs and cylinder head studs and nuts

To clarify further,
3/8" UNF is the thread size (and what you ask for at the bolt shop....don't buy UNC bolts)
9/16" is the socket size you need to undo them.
I can't remember the length, probably about 1-1/4" to 1-1/2". You will also need a nice big flat washer and a spring washer for each bolt.

The previous owner of my Moke made that mistake as well but still managed to repeat it over and over againTim wrote:and its UNF not UNC ...as I once made the mistake of jamming in there.

In my case I was away from home and bought a sumpguard. The easiest way to get it home was to bolt it on. When I went to fit a unf bolt it didn't thread in smoothly because the hole was full of grit. I just assumed that it was UNC instead.Dean wrote:The previous owner of my Moke made that mistake as well but still managed to repeat it over and over againTim wrote:and its UNF not UNC ...as I once made the mistake of jamming in there.

Since then I've learned what a total pain they are. You can guarantee that every nut, bolt or spanner you drop will be stuck in a layer of oily sludge on top of the stupid thing. I've got two of them jammed into the furthest corner of the garage.
