The front panel/grille

Hey there guys,

Now I know the answer is probably cost, however I've often wondered:

Why didn't they make the moke's grille detachable?

It makes the smallest jobs so much more inconvenient in comparison to the mini saloon

Even service jobs like a filter change, I'm so worried of hitting the paint work or doing the points gap with a screwdriver, I have to use a long reach jobby.

I believe this to be the mini moke's biggest design flaw (aside from the rust as per all mini's)

I'm glad I've got the backing of someone, or a nation!

Every time I work on her I think this is a lovely easy job should take about ten minutes...and then I suddenly remember the non-removable grille.

The front panel is not as strong on mokes with removable grilled. But I wouldn't swap back!

On the Californians even with the grill removed the front bumper still gets in the way a bit.

Try working on a Mini Van with the non removable grill, a Moke is heaven, in comparison.

Know what you mean Graham, heres mine from 1969 (wish I still had it!!).
