Protecting the shell

Having recently come back from the Mini Fair at Bingley Hall in severe rain! the side pods ended up with a fair amount of water in them.
I've dried them out and the insides look like they have had something akin to waxoyl treatment (a brownish sticky coating).
Anyone recommend Waxoyl or Dinitrol as a rust 'prevention' treatment. I'm thinking that perhaps I ought to retreat these areas, I've read that its best to do on a warm day and even warm the fluid up before applying.

We use a cavity wax called Kent Waxcoat. All of the Kent products are top notch, we use the Waxcoat because it is easy to apply in an aerosol can with a long tube and after a number of years no sign of anything getting through it. A 500ml can will get to all the usual areas on a Moke .
