Front subframe
Hi,I have got a 78 Australian moke it has a single bolt tower mount and mounts into toe panel with mini L shaped rubber mounts,it has the correct mounts for the front bumper coming through the front panel, and has mowog stamp on subframe.so I know it's a genuine frame but should it be twin bolt frame on the car.

Hi. My '81 Aussie has the Twin bolt subframe, yours should have one, as well.

Re: Front subframe
Single bolt subframes came in around 1976 but that’s uk production. Mines from later than that and has twin bolts and Graham’s later still so yours should a twin bolt subframe you’d think wouldn’t you?

Re: Front subframe
No I dont have any pictures at moment,I sourced a frame today with twin bolt,I had a feeling the other frame was wrong when I took it off and all pictures I can find show twin bolt frame so I feel happier now when I finish the work and put it together it will be right.

Re: Front subframe
That’s why I’m asking........a twin bolt will not fit( or even go near fitting) a single bolt body shell and vice versa so something is seriously amiss if what you’re saying is correct

Re: Front subframe
That is definitely a Single Bolt Subframe, and by the looks of it from a late Mini, in your picture 2, down from the top. The Twin Bolt Subframe should use the smaller holes each side of the larger hole. Also on the Twin Bolt Subframe the rear extensions bolt directly to the body, not through the later rubber mounts.

Re: Front subframe
Thats what I was thinking ,also if I remember right the later mini crossmember where the single bolt goes was reinforced inside to take the strain,I have also noticed on the subframe where the bumper mounts the welds are not original and have been added later.and the crosmember has is original all front panels were factory,I have fitted a new toe board the old one was past it.after looking at the car and input from you guys im sure it should be twin bolt, also a friend in australia has said twin bolt.
