Mounting a radio in the under seat torsion panel

Post by Rich Wils »

Hi,

I’m thinking about fitting a radio / Bluetooth receiver under the drivers seat, there are several made for boats where the head unit fits within an 80mm diameter hole. I will be fitting the mx5 seats with the speakers in the headrests and hopefully mounting an aerial inside the back of the passenger seat.

Would cutting an 80mm hole in the torsion stiffening panel under the seats compromise its integrity? If so would welding a ring around the hole overcome the problem? If so, what section ring?

Thanks

Rich
