Re: Old Hood required ( English moke)
The problem is I'm in a bit of a catch22 situation at the moment. To go in the garage I want the fire working 'cos it's so cold BUT to get the fire working I need to fit the flue BUT the roof is colder still and icy slippy to boot....When it gets warmer I'm in the garage faffing and forget about fixing the fire

Got the fire working - it's warm as toast now..... I was thinking all I have to do is connect up the radiators that I've found and I'll have central heating to boot

Re: Old Hood required ( English moke)
That's what I THOUGHT......But when I returned home today I found that my son had been working on his Mini in there all day and managed to set fire to the garage wall because he'd got the fire so hot

Re: Old Hood required ( English moke)
Hmm, that's less than ideal, but at least its warm.
Where I live, we had a big spate of house fires caused by badly installed wood heaters. It got to epidemic proportions. They had to change the laws, and its very strict now. You have to use a licensed installer, and you can't even buy the flue or materials to do it yourself. It seems to have fixed the problem, and all of the dodgy installations have burnt down now.

Re: Old Hood required ( English moke)
It wasn't the installation so much as the user !!!! He had the damper fully open all day, must have got through half my woodpile
