Hood repairs

Post by Wally2 »

Hi All,
Has anyone had their hood repaired? Mine has a few little holes where it touches the frames ( where the hood webbing is attached to the hoops) and is missing a strip of 'velcro' from the rear window. I've located a local company that specialises in classic vehicle trim so I will take it up to them and inquire if they can do the repair and how much. If this company can do the repairs I think I'II also get them to put some 'velcro' inside the hood to fasten it to the hoops as it flaps around quite alot (as per Roy Scott's suggestion in his book on Moke restoration).

Hi all,
Took the hood into a local vehicle trimmers for repair yesterday. It needs a new piece of velcro for the rear window (then I may be able to use it!), also needs repair to holes where it has rubbed on the frames where the straps (seat belts!) are riveted to the frames and I'ved ask him if he can fix some velcro straps on to fix the hood down to the frames to stop it flapping around so much. He is also going to give me an idea fof price for a new hood, if he can still get the material in blue from his German supplier.
Will let you know how I get on.

Got the top back from the trimmers, he has done a great job and only charged me £40. He is going to check on the material availability and let me have a rough idea on the cost of a new top!
