My children decided to have a great time zipping and unzipping the rear window on the Mini Moke, resulting in some damage.
Now several teeth are missing.
No, not from the children, from the zipper.
The front seam threads are also missing (rotted?) in several places.
I have no idea how old the hood actually is.
It is sort of canvas in the underside and vinyl(?) on the outside.
THE DELEMMA
Do I :-
a) Have the existing one restitched and two new large zips sown in?
OR
b) bite the bullet and fork out for a brand new hood, using the old one as a pattern?
If so, which material is the most recommended ?
Which material for a new hood?

Doug,
I would think that in your area there would be plenty of custom canvass shops serving the boat population.....
On the other hand, usually anything to do with boats gets expensive quickly.... especially from the viewpoint of notoriously cheap Mokers.
I would ask around for an estimate local to you and get a quote from the usual suppliers... Runamoke and M Parts come to mind.

The stitching would probly be fairly economical.
Just need to get two large toothed zips.

The zips appear to be available in 24" or 36" (or larger) sizes.
The zips on the Mini Moke hood are 26".
