I have seen slatted wood seats in Mini Mokes.
Cant find any pics on the net. The slats were about 2" x 1/2" in cross section.
Great idea in hot climates.
Cool BUT the bumps are felt if the road is rough.
Out here I don't spend more than 30 minutes driving at a time. So impressions on the rear are not too much.

Doug, I'm not that familar with the Aussie seats. Could the frame be reupholstered with strips of thick vinyl something like a lawn chair?

I haven't seen the innards of the seats in my Mini Moke, but I am pretty sure that they are not original.
