Seats and welding

Post by Doug G »

For some inexplicable reason the welds at the base of the back of the driver's seat have failed.

I am unable (so far) to find reasonable doner seats.

importing Cobra etc seats is not financially viable (got to recoup the monies forked out for the disk brake conversion) at present.

I will have to get four welds done as a temp repair.

I just hope that the welder doesn't melt/set fire Imageto the vinyl covering. :?
Having a moking good time!

Hi Doug,
Had that happen on one of my rear seats, the spot welds came undone. I repaired it by putting in a few pop rivets, seems ok now!

Now I don't want to get into the obvious finger pointing as to why only the drivers seat suffered a metal fatigue failure so all I'll add is, don't the seat covers remove far enough to keep them safe from the heat ?
