Mk1 Moke wiper movement

Post by j Beeton »

Hi, connected up the wiper motor today, and it works!! however the "sweep" does not seem to be very wide , probably about 90 degrees ? is this correct or can the sweep be adjusted?

Thanks ..James

Hi James,
There's a post further down 'Lucas FW2 Wiper motor sweep angle' which may help.
Between Jan and me we determined that the standard sweep angle is approx. 110 degrees, however on a dry screen you wont get that! the motor just doesn't seem to have enough umpf, but in the wet mine will do a fair sweep until it gets rid of the water on the screen then the sweep gets less.
I put MER on the screen, you don't really need the wiper then!

That water repellent is good stuff! Rain-X works for me, too! I have my original wiper motor, but it doesn't seem to work, so I have to find someone who can rebuild it.

Anyone have any suggestions?????????

Anyone have any good leads on a MK1 wiper arm replacement? The one I have has been badly painted and looks like crap. It may be beyond my ability to restore.

Is a LHD car a right side parking wiper arm?

Wouldn't any mini type wiper arm do the job? After all with a mark1 motor the wiper can be parked pretty much anywhere can't it?

Well, yeah, it could do the job, if doable for a Moke wiper, but seeing as I have the original one, it seems right to save it.
