Indicators with trailer
I have just fitted towbar and electrics to my Portuguese Moke. Everything is working fine except the indicators when trailer electrics connected. Without the trailer my indicators work perfectly but when I plug in trailer the indicators flash faster and are very dim. All the indicator lights are working but not correctly.
Anyone got any ideas ? ..... Could the indicator relay need uprating ?

Re: Indicators with trailer
I think John, your flasher relay will be rated for four bulbs (plus any repeaters you have) the trailer ones will make it complain at having to do too much work. I think you'll need to fit an up rated one.
Your hazards use a different flasher unit that can deal with all the bulbs coming on at once........try swapping them and see if the moke & trailer ones work then?

Re: Indicators with trailer
You can get upgraded ones like below, I'm not sure if it will run a car/trailer combo though, but for six quid or so it's not much of a gamble

Hi Rien. I purchased it unused from a Club Member in Dorset . The company making them is Watling Engineers based in St. Albans - watling-towbars.co.uk. On their site , go to UK vehicles , down-load Price List and Mokes are listed in Austin/Rover section
I have had to adapt mine as I don't have a standard Portuguese exhaust - But that's another story !

Re: Indicators with trailer
Hi Rein
The ball hitch has 2 arms extending forward in a " V " shape under the rear bull bar and bolts onto the back of rear subframe through the 2 reinforced holes in subframe then the front is bolted through holes you drill in bodywork. The ball hitch does not obstruct the number plate or light.
As I explained , I had to alter mine so photos are no good for you

Hello John,
thanks, I got a drawing from Watling, and now I can find out if the towbar fits together with the Portuguese bullbar !
Kind greetings, Rien.
