Paint the rear of speedo housing?

Post by Willie_B »

Should I paint the rear of the speedo housing with a zinc galvanizing paint for rust-proofing? The paint has a bright silver sorta metallic look. Or just leave it cleaned bare metal finish.

I'd just leave it clean, or perhaps wax it. It doesn't matter so much on a Moke, you can't see it when its installed. The factory finish is bright plating but it often wears off or corrodes. I recently had the one for my Mini rebuilt (you can see the back of the mIni one whenits installed). They replated the back of the speedo in silver, with the fuel gauge gold passivated. It came out pretty well.
