Most embarrassing Moking incident(s)

Here my two that I can remember at the moment. . . there are others. :lol:

1. I was heading up a steep hill when the clip securing the accelerator pedal came loose.
Cars backed up quickly behind me.
As I was going fishing there was a 'Magyver' fix of a length of fishing line connected to the point on the Carb came into use as a 'hand operated accelerator.

2. Going to pick up a friend and as we drove back on the the road the stub axle came out of the front left recess. Yes it should have had a circlip retainer. BUT the guys that 'restored' (ROTFLMAO) it 'forgot' to reinstall it. :oops:

Do you mean the driveshaft/cv ? It’s a well known failing and the circlip should always be replaced with a new one if you have the driveshaft apart from the cv. It’s a lesson I learned the hard way many many years ago :lol:

Or....forgetting to tighten the wheel nuts :roll: Not only did the wheel go walkabout three miles from home I had no jack and the tyre managed to puncture itself on the wheel stud as it left :oops:

So don't keep us in suspense how did you resolve it?

With a Mini Moke it is simple to lift (the rear anyway) and put a wheel on.
An addition person helper is essential even if you can find some bricks etc hanging around to support it while putting wheel on.

Trust you had a spare wheel :shock: and/or a mobile phone.

I had the nuts come off and a rear wheel depart and go into a ravine from a Suzuki Sumarai. Paid a youngster £5.00 to get it back from the 50'0" deep ravine at night.

Fortunately I had a jack etc. BUT no spare nuts.

Soo we took one nut off of each of the three remaining wheels and put them on to this rear wheel and was able to drive home.Thankfully only 4 miles. :mrgreen:

The Garage denied :oops: that they had removed the rear wheel.

BUT as I left I heard the manager bawling out the mechanic, :lol: :lol: :lol:

Depends on the cost of the 'lift' back.

UNLESS you belong to the AA or RAC etc, but not sure if the charge you for it (even discounted) on top of annual membership fee.

I’m in the RAC and have used them many times since I joined in ‘96. Every year they send me a renewal letter and every year the price goes up by at least10%. Every year I wait until a couple of days before payment is due and tell them to stuff their services as they are increasing them at vastly more than the rate of inflation which leads to 10 - 15 minutes of haggling and a much smaller increase ( last year I got 15 months for the price of 12 as well)
