Interesting & innovative repairs. Did you get the pedals to pivot yet? The pin they pivot on is not available according to Seven. If you need any Mini specific parts contact me. Me & my brother have been racing and working on Minis for decades so we have most parts but not that one. I'm in California.

For the pedal pivot shaft i found a grade 8 bolt that the shank is just a wee bit undersize and it fits great. Just getting the steering column back togeather and close to putting it all back in. Then get it running and stopping.

If I remember, the original pivot shaft has a teardrop shaped end and a small pin that engages a hole in the pedal bracket. I would think that this is to keep the shaft from pivoting and either wearing out the bracket or loosening the nut.
I would either source the proper shaft or figure out some way of "staking" the grade 8 bolt to the bracket.

But, I don't know as if I would enjoy paying that price.....
You might want to check with MiniCity up in Rochester, NY or, if you have other parts you're sourcing from England, you should be able to find it there.....

I used a nyloc nut so it is not going anywhere. The stake part of the old pin is firmly imbedded in its hole and going nowhere also. No going back now either as I had to enlarge the re-inforced end for the bolt to go through. I guess I could drill a small hoe thru the bolt head and insert a new pin.

What about a couple of tack welds on the head of the bolt?
Of course, this adds more complexity to disassembly but that's the next guy's problem....

I don't see a problem if it rotates some. Maybe evenly share any wear points.

The only reason I can see for it "rotating" is if the pedal bushing seizes to the shaft.
That would turn out kinda interesting because then, when you push the clutch pedal, you'll apply the brakes and verse -visa.
It'll probably work out but I would still toss on a tack weld to make sure....
