Re: 65 English little wheeler in Coastal North Carolina
Mounting the mirrors from M-Parts. Thought it would be an easy job. Problem is the captive studs on the mirrors have long threads and the acorn nut supplied has a short length, so it won't fit tight unless I add a bunch of washers. Anyone have a good solution, other that adding washers?
What am I doing wrong to post a darn image? I highlighted the URL and clicked the Img button, surrounding with So here I did the same from another site and it worked fine, except size too big.

Hi Peter,
Like this
.
Try looking in 'How to include a photo in your post' in the 'Site Discuss' section as there are different ways of doing it depending on the browser you are using, the info I gave you was for windows. If yours isn't there ask Dean one of the administrators.
Re the problem with the mirrors, you shouldn't need packing washers but looking at the photo on M-Parts web site it appears that there is a black spacer between the nut and the bracket? tricky to see, might be worth dropping M-Parts a line.
My mirrors have a longer nut
and seem to have a rubber washer and a domed washer on the mirror side of the bracket
You could always try cutting some off the threaded bar.
Hope this helps.
Chris

Your right there Nigel, it's been raining on and off (more on than off!) all day, hoping to get out and about tomorrow. Need to get a few miles on to bed the new head gasket in before Ireland.
Weather's looking good for Brighton tomorrow for those on the L2B run.
Dare I say that the weather forecast for Westport is not looking too bad for next weekend either! Fingers crossed.
