WEE MOKE

Post by Wally2 »

I am Mokeless!! and WEE MOKE is engineless at the moment.
She is in having an engine rebuild and while they are at it one or two other new bits! Just before going on the London to Brighton run, I noticed an oil leak from the clutch bell housing, which is not good! Also when I got back I found another oil leak from the timing chain cover. So as I've said before the middle cylinders were in a bit of a state last time I had the head off due to the engine being left for a long time, I assume, with the plugs out. So it was time to have the engine out and get it sorted.

Engine block and crank shaft are away now being machined.
I will add more as the job progresses, hoping that after all this I will have time to get a few miles running in before we attempt the National!

Thanks Peter,
The engine block was quite gunged up with brown stuff, took some cleaning out apparently! It looks like the radiator is also sludged up so may need a re-core or a new aluminium one. One of the final drive yokes has quite a bit missing, so that will need replacing as well.

Nothing like a freshen up.

You're better than me putting up with a crash box!

You doing the engine yourself or having it done?

Hope it doesn't take too long.
Old Mokers never die, they just smell that way.

Hi Spider,
I have got syncro on 2nd, 3rd and 4th!
No not doing it myself, having it done at a local mini specialist garage called 'A-Series'!
Will be going over to see how they are doing next week, will take some more piccies.

Not much to report as the engine block has still not returned from the machine shop!
While its away the bulk head is going to get some fresh paint and the brake and clutch master cylinders replaced with original tin can ones.

Workshop machining the engine block got flooded a couple of weeks ago, that's why we have a delay, however, all is ok now and work commenced today to put WEE MOKE back together again. This will not leave me much time to get some running in miles on the clock before the National!
Cheers

Good news from the garage, engine going back into WEE MOKE today and should be ready to pick up on Monday! That gives me a couple of weeks before the National to get some running in miles (weather permitting!).
