My 1976 Australian Moke.

Post by Martin108 » Wed Aug 14, 2019 21:11

I bought this back in April. I want to keep it as original as possible when I restore it.

Great work so far.
Still a bit to do, thats for sure. Those dreaded un drilled holes
I like your idea of making the back seat, 2 seats out of 1, Nice 8). Something I would be mindful of is putting the head rests on. If you want to fit the original hood and bows, they will fowl when folding down the roof when enjoying the fine weather.

Cheers

Halfpint, loads to do but I’m looking forward to all the work. It will keep me busy this winter. I searched everywhere for a fourth seat but had no luck. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about bench seats and the idea was born. Sad I know.
Someone else had told me the same about the headrests so I wasn’t going to fit any on the back as I do want to fit an original hood and frame. As to enjoying the fine weather I can only hope, being based on the north coast of Northern Ireland it can be a bit wet for most of the year.

Cheers.

So it’s been a while since I posted anything. I have entrusted the repairs to the bodywork to Martin Csomo at AA Vintage and Classics. Martin has a great track record with vintage vehicles, check out his Facebook page and see the Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Morris Traveller, Morris Oxford van and pickup, VW split screen, etc. he has worked on. Work is well under way and I will post pictures as work progresses.
