If I turned the head rests up side down would it work with a hood frame? Does it look ok?

Original wiring was a bit ropey. New loom purchased.

Hi Martin I had a look at my low back seats today and had a measure of the back, from the bottom of the lower horizontal tube to the top of the top horizontal tube is 19 inches this might help you a bit.

Those wires look awful in that plastic bag :(
Im sure you will make good use of them soon enough though :)

The seats fill up the back big time don't they! But such a good use of space.

Something to be aware of is, unless you can forward tilt the back seats somehow, the hood bows wont be able to be folded down. The low back seats without the head rest, when positioned forward slightly, can allow enough room for the roof to be folded down. One of your pics shows the hood bow, with the seats in place. You may not want the roof folded down, so there is lots of room to put the back seats in without having to worry about the hood bows folding down.

Thanks Shaun, what I want to do isn’t going to work with the height of these seats as they are.

Halfpint, it’s not working with the seats as they are. I’ve moved them forward and I will still need to cut them down. I’m hoping someone will want to swap me for a set of low backed seats. I don’t really want to cut the high backed ones down.

Fitting the petrol tank. The neck is a bit one sided when viewed without the cap, the opening is huge. I’m planning to fit a perforated tube internally to stop any bits before they get into the tank. The bracket at the side of the tank needs to be fixed through the side pod. I don’t really want to drill the side pod so any alternative fixing methods would be welcomed. The view of all the clean suspension components is very satisfying from below.

If you are installing a new wiring harness you may need to remove the tank as the harness that goes to the rear goes above the tank.

Thanks Willie, I’m fitting everything first and then taking it to bits again before I paint it or fit the wiring loom.

Progress with the wiring loom. Some labels would have been helpful.

Doing a bit of tidying up on some parts. The remote gear change body is off to the vapour blaster.

I’ve been working on the wipers and have fitted and tested the motor and mechanism. It’s a bit noisy but it all works. I also fitted the new dash I recently picked up.

This is looking good, nice to see someone just getting on with it, spend what it costs. It appears to be a pre '73 car with the pressed in grille originally. The new dash top isn't original Oz as there's no ash tray hole. I had mine made without the hole.As for the side screens, I've had my car way over 100 mph with the top on and it was fine. Not many cars have the reversing light bracket, normally Export or Army cars. The small square tail lights look better than the rectangular ones, some cars had the cutout in the rear panel, some didn't, I think it was from '78 just before galvanised bodies came in they pressed in the cutout. Punt those seats with the headrests, stay with the originals unless you can get a pair of '79 onwards factiry highback seats. Keep up the good work, what colour are you going?
