The Moke came to Ireland via Jersey and is undergoing a full restoration by myself, Paul & James in MiniFix garage here in Dublin, Ireland.

Subframes out & interior stripped.

The Moke was left outside sitting in a garden lawn on it's underside & with no cover. The seats have rusted frames & are not saveable. The front subframe has no rear arms & is scrap. The rear subframe is OK & will be cleaned & overhauled.

Rear subframe out. Don't park your Moke under Lawson Cypress trees. Shown is the remains of the rear seat mounts - so you can imagine the state of the seats. :o :D

I really don’t understand why people store things in that way :o It’s obvious they will deteriorate quickly

G'day,
From your photo's the MOKE looks to be in great condition, except the seat mount of course.

Moving along nicely.

Nigel, this Moke had it's top up & a plastic Tarp. over it but the Irish weather got the better of both. From the information we have, it sat in the garden for 15 years.

Hi Halfpint, it's in quite good condition considering the abuse it got. It's an Australian 'GAL' Moke.

OK, back from a little R&R with SWMBO.

Shell fully stripped. Seats dumped as they were totally beyond saving. Subframes dismantled, front subframe dumped & rear prepared for Powder Coating.

Moke turned on its side and fitted to a specially prepared pallet to access the rust.
The battery box had suffered where the battery leaked & this was not helped by the shell sitting on the earth.
The front floor was worst with more damage inside than out.

First lot of parts off to the powder coaters.
Battery box rust cut out and repairs made.
It was a difficult repair as the battery box rotted across the seam. The bottom stiffeners were patched & the base replaced.

More cutting & welding on the floor. The front floor had the worst of the corrosion and was a very difficult repair.
I must give credit to James Kelly @ MiniFix here in Dublin for his skill with the cutting disk and Mig Welder.
Everything from Hammer & Dolly, Sheet Metal Folding Brake, Swaging Rollers & an old Fire extinguisher under the leg of the Ramp was used to bend & fold repair pieces.
