Hmm, project Moke for £2.500...

Post by mpmoke »

OK, maybe been up to discussions before here?

I was just browsing ebay.co.uk, found a Moke (auction nr 260076768444) that need of "some" work.
After 26 bids they are now up at the sum of £2.500

Hmm, wonder where it will end?

are they really that hard to find?

:?

Nigel was kind enough to bring it to my attention as i am looking for a bumper/towbar assembly for my car and this looked like it could have been a possible donor.

However its a tad too expensive for me now!!!

He cannot be a serious Mini Moker to describe it in his blurb as (see words highlighted in red)

MINI MOKE 1966 .
REG. KUY 870D
VERY RARE .
IN NEED OF FULL REBUILD / REFURB.
ORGINAL LOG BOOK PRESENT.
ALL PARTS ARE FROM A MINI/red]MORRIS MINOR.
YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF FUN WITH THIS red]BUGGY WHEN REBUILT.

It still is £2,500.00 with one hour to go.

I guess that at circa £1,900.00 mine complete with hood was a bargain even with the added cost of respray, a few lamps etc and some body work on top of that.

I hope the purchaser is happy with his £2550 worth. Even I was amazed at that price.

Or could it be yet another ID bought, so a younger (Portuguese)Moke can be cloned into something English, more valuable and supposedly "just fully restored", to be sold into an unsuspecting (or uncaring) market. Does it really matter?

Or am I just a cynic? £2.5K isn't much if you can look at a return of perhaps £8K+ after spending maybe another 2K. Didn't a "fully restored" Moke sell last year for £9995? Good English Mokes are rare and desirable. I wish I could make 3.5K+ on everything I did.

Sorry but I don't believe an enthusiast spent £2.5K on that. It's a shame Ebay have adopted this policy of hiding identities. It gives the dealers an easier hand.

With the way things are going, there will soon be a lot more english mokes on the road than when they were actually being produced at Longbridge.

The high-bidder on this Moke was "minisoren" from Denmark.

Could this be the danish minidriver with this homepage:
http://www.detvarsoerens.com/ :?:

We will have to check his site regurarly to see if any pics of/news about a Moke comes up.

There are not that many Mokes in Denmark, so this could be a way to get hold of a Moke, despite it was rather pricy. But, as Nigel has pointed out, put in £2-3k and you have a Moke at a quite "normal" price..

Just check out this Moke that is for sale in Italy:
http://www.i0100.com/en/index.php?area= ... 5335&var=b

Price: 10.000 Euros

Micke,

How do you know who was the highest bidder? I cannot see that info here in the UK.

The Italian Moke is not expensive at 10000 Euros.

And also the club's help if it is this guy in Denmark out on his own.

So it would be good if he knows about the club to keep us up to date with his restoration progress.

That would make for interesting articles in the magazine cause i for one wouldn't know where to start with the project he is undertaking.

He's a brave man.
