Oops a daisy..... bought another Austin Ant !
The 4WD moke is still going ahead, but with the Ant I've just bought, and parts from my original Ant, I should be able to build one good Ant.
Hoping to get the camera around it this weekend and with any time left over, I'll get the original Ant out of storage and start assessing what I have and make plans accordingly.
I got together with three other Ant owners and to date we have identified 15 surviving Ants and possibly two or three more to be confirmed, this is from 24 originally built. Pretty good result for 44 year old vehicles!

Roy did write/compile/edit the book mentioned above but you may be referring to another book he wrote (and which is often referred to as "Roy Scott's Book") which is called " Mini Moke: A comprehensive guide to restoration", but I believe that one is now out of print.

As that link no longer works, you can find it here.mab01uk wrote:Interesting 4WD Moke Project here:

It was a project that at one time felt like a career!
http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/to ... on/?hl=4wd
on page 3 there's some photos of the complete and restored Moke.
I first saw this Moke a few years after the original builder of it, Max Kinsmore, had completed it. He did like lighting up all 4 wheels are the conclusion of our Moke Club meetings He did also bust it a few times.
In it's first incarnation, it had straight cuts in the front and rear diffs, which Max had made, at some great cost. After breaking the front one a few times, he managed to get a hold of a couple of sets of factory prototype diffs, but these weren't much better. Then again, Max was pretty hard on it too.
After doing this Gearbox ( hopefully for the last time!), like Roger, I'm doing my own 4WD Moke, though taking a bit of a different route to what's already been done. don't hold your breath though as the more off roading I do in a conventional 2WD Moke, it's almost showing that a 4WD version is redundant - almost!

I am looking at recreating one of the 4wd prototype mokes here in the U.K.
I have looked at your pictures for the quadra and wanted to know if you had any more information on this
I will be running it in a Californian Moke running one of the original Gordon Allan BDA cosworth engines on a mini gearbox
Also if you have any info on the rear suspension i.e. Hubs used etc.
