Runamoke Hoods

Post by grantourer »

Hi All. I know a lot of people ask questions about hoods and suppliers. Just had a new hood fitted, by Ron at Runamoke, on our Aussie Moke. The quality is excellent and the fitting superb, no more flappy straps and zips that do not line up, and no I never fitted the hood to my Moke the previous owner did.

Looks good. I'm curious, what is a ballpark figure for a top like that in the UK? Trim and upholstery is horrendously expensive in Australia.

Looks VERY smart indeed.

Do they keep these 'on the shelf' or do they make them on order after first measuring the car and then fitting? It just seems to fit so well.

Also, is it a marine grade fabric?

Around the same kinda money for a similar job here.
Old Mokers never die, they just smell that way.

Hi Spider. I am not sure what the fabric is, my last hood gave up the ghost after the previous owner fitted it incorrectly, that lasted about 9 years.

Hi

I brought a hood from Runamoke for my 1980 Aussie Moke in 2008 when I refurbished my Moke it still looks like new and is still a tight fit. I fitted it myself with out to many problems as the instructions given are very clear. I would recommend these hoods to anyone looking at a new one.

I am not sure if he has them on the shelf I think they are made to order?

Thanks, that's interesting. I imagined you might be paying a lot less than we would, but that's pretty close. I remember seeing ads for softops for Suzukis in a UK mag several years ago and they were giving them away, but I reckon they were making hundreds of them, not bespoke one-offs.

In Aus we can (or at least could) get cheap Choke ones, but if you want a quality custom made one you'd be looking around the same price.

cheers
