Chassis Plate

Post by j Beeton »

Help, I am nearing completion of my moke restoration 1965 mk1. But in the piles of bits that were stored for months I cannot find the Chassis plate :(
I can get a new one made up but I can't remember if it is the single line type and if it had Austin or Morris on it. As the cars were all built at Longbridge should it be an Austin type plate , the car is badged and registered as a Morris Moke, also I am sure the plate was the same as the engine plate and embossed or reverse stamped....

Thanks. james

Hi James'
Your VIN number will be on the V5. If it starts M AB 12345...etc its a Morris if it starts A AB 12345...etc its an Austin.
It should be a single line plate with Morris or Austin on. PM me your e-mail address if you want a photo of my plate.
Cheers

Hi Chris, thanks for replying, I have ordered a replacement from minimail.co.uk. They supply original embossed chassis plates correct for the car/period. Not cheap though but correct .......
