Co2 for 1275 Moke

Post by Richard King »

Hi all

Does anyone know the approximate CO2 reading for a 1275 cc A plus MG metro engined Moke.
I have been to my local garage a couple of times but each time he's busy and wont take appointments.
I need to know as I am trying to register my car in Portugal
If its 150 g/km it will be 1500 euros but 250g/km will take it to over 7000 euros!!!
If it is anything like the latter then I will have to consider selling and getting Portuguese reg Moke
Cheers
Richard

Hi Nigel
Yes I imagine it would/should be the same however I did try google but couldn't find the figure. I did find late model Mini 1275 but that was fuel injected so not a lot of use.
Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard. The problem you have, is that g/km only came in with Euro Cat 1 in 1993, when all car engines had gone the injection route to meet the legislation. A 1.1L Injection Metro is 157g/km. So I would suspect a normally aspirated Carburettor engine would be higher. probably not what you want to hear.

Hi Graham.
Yes that's the problem - The Portuguese authorities keep asking for a Certificate of Conformity on a 1986 Portuguese Moke !!! . Despite they were built here and Certificates of Conformity weren't introduced till 1996 its going round in circles . Apparently it is only the CO2 they need so I am trying to find a way around this.

I will have to try again next week at the local garage for them to test it. I don't want to go to the Govt Test Centre until I know roughly high the CO2 is.

Thanks guys
