67 Moke with stainless steel bumpers

Post by 1938al »

My 67 English Moke built 5 Dec 1965 has ss bumpers. Anyone else have these? I have not seen any others. They look identical to the painted ones.

Greetings. It's good to see that you can now post without moderation :D As to the bumpers, it's pretty safe to say that they will be a later addition..........I don't think BMC would have heard of stainless, much less use a metal that didn't rust

Good point Nigel. Plenty of stainless used on my '58 Morris Minor but the moke doesn't
seem to be the right platform foe stainless. They are very nice though now I will have to decide whether
to change them back to stock Alan

AHA! I see that the Beach Boys (George Barris) Moke had CHROME bumpers. I put a magnet to my bumpers and they ARE chrome also NOT stainless. So were they available aftermarket, were they made by BMC, are there any more english mokes with them? I suppose I may never know. Alan

Hi guys
Just to add to this thread. I have had a SS rear bumper made for my Aussie moke as a 0ne off but the guys that made it are willing to use mind and make up a jig and do a batch if anyone would be interested? I am also sure that they would do the same for the front as well.
