'English' style gear stick/lever gaiter versus 'Australian' style gaiter

Post by Doug G »

Gear stick/lever gaiters not alligators.

What is the difference between the 'English' style gaiter and the 'Australian' style* gaiter?
[ Is it corrector permissible to place 'Australian' and 'style' next to each other?]

Is it possible to use an 'English' style gaiter in an Australian Mini Moke?

Would a circa 1973 fall into the 'early' category?

For the benefit of all:

Found this on that font of (sometimes incorrect) knowledge Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini_Moke
The first Mokes were only built at BMC's Longbridge, Birmingham plant.
14,518 Mokes were produced in the UK between 1964 and 1968

26,000 in Australia between 1966 and 1981, and

10,000 in Portugal between 1980 and 1993 when production of the Moke ended.
So 1973 is almost slap bang in the exact middle. So this does not help me. :(

I wonder when the gaiters changes and to what style?
