I was sent this
https://researchmaniacs.com/VIN/Where-i ... -made.html
which apparently tells you where was your vehicle made.
I had a bit of a shock. . . .

Re: Where was your vehicle made?
You're pretty unlikely to find a VIN on a Moke, maybe on the last Portuguese, but not on a UK or Aussie. They weren't widely adopted until the mid to late '80s.

Re: Where was your vehicle made?
My VIN is stenciled on a plate located on the top of my radiator cowling which corresponded to the VIN in the Log Book.
Although like Nigel I question the accuracy, as apparently my beloved Moke was made in India !

A number like MAB1....?
Thats not a VIN in the sense that Doug's website means. VINs are 17 character long and used to identify modern vehicles. They weren't used in the UK or Australia when Mokes were being built, but they may have come in for the last Portuguese Mokes.

Re: Where was your vehicle made?
Stenciling the VIN on a plate located on the top of the radiator cowling was rather silly.
Surely the VIN plate should have been affixed to the bulkhead or other section of the chassis that could not be easily replaced.
