Hu???? Hmm,,,, didn't know they made Mokes in Portugal in the 60's,,,,

They were available as an option in the early Minis and Mokes in the early to mid 60's. Known as a Bee-hive Heater.
Old Mokers never die, they just smell that way.

Yes, but they were, if not the same, very similar to the ones fitted in land rovers and nothing like this thing

Looks like an old Smiths beehive heater. They were retrofitted to loads of different cars over here.

When ordered with a new Moke, they were supplied under SPO17 ;)

If it was a one off, the Dealer's fitted them, but is it was a small run, they were fitted at the Factory.

They wouldn't be great in a Moke, because they are pretty big. I've seen a few of the smaller round metal ones though.

I can't say for sure, but on an advert I've seen for the early Mokes over here heaters weren't an option (cue bodge) The option list did include passenger seats (3 number) weathermaster tyres, laminated windscreen and a windscreen wiper.
Perhaps it's just you soft Aussies that need to keep warm :P

Hi Nigel,
I think with a heater on a Moke its main use is to keep the engine cool not necessarily to keep the occupants warm!

I also seem to recall that the rag top was also an option as was the curtains - although they may have been standard - necessary - equipment in the UK.

Nig, anything below 20 here is a cold snap, so yes, we like our heaters :)
