Re: Crank-case breather

Hi Jan,
The other day I removed the tappet cover with the oil separator tube and all the breather control valve bits and replaced it with a plain tappet cover. All went well for a few trips out, then I noticed drops of oil on the drive. Upon investigation I found that the oil was being forced out of the dip stick hole and then running down the front of the gearbox casing. Cleaned everything up, made sure the dip stick was securly in place and went for another run. On return same thing! Oil running down the gearbox casing from the dip stick hole. All I can assume is that without the breather the gearbox/sump is being pressurised that much that its forcing the oil out through the dip stick.
Resolved the problem by putting the breather bits back on! If you dont get this problem Jan, then there must be some other difference internally to the engine on those intended for export to the US?

Does your tappet cover have breather pipe that connects to air filter?
