Oil Filter

Post by Doug G »

Although I keep topping it up and the oil looks relatively  clean, I need to change the filter on my circa 1973 998cc Aussie style Mini Moke.

It is no a 'spin on' but has a hole through the middle which then has a rod/long bolt which goes through the middle.

Where do I get replacement filters of how do I change it to the 'spin on' style?

Doug, don't convert to a spin on. The old style canister filters are much more character building. Its a special thing on a Moke that has a fixed grille, trying to manipulate a canister full of oil into the gap between the engine and the grill with oil streaming from the bolt hole in the bottom and without dumping the full contents down the front of the engine.

That said, even the spin-ons are a fiddle, and still near impossible to fit without getting oil everywhere.

Hi Doug. Ask your local stockist for a GFE103 filter.

Yes. The offer is still available. I will have to buy a filter though.

We’ll look on the bright side. Only 3000 miles until you have to do it again

3000 miles. I drive roughly 7,000 miles a year.

Out here we have approximately 99.1km (61.5 miles) of paved roads, 40.1km (24.9 miles) of unpaved roads and 60.0km (37,28 miles) of tracks.
