Suggestions-air filter twin 1-1/4 SU's

Post by Robin Jones »

I've sourced a set ot twin 1-1/4" SU's along with the manifold, linkage & heat shields. They're all off at the "spa" (rebuilder/polisher)
As much as I would like an original Cooper box, they seem to be rocking horse poop and the few I've seen for sale command a very high price. (If one of you lot has a spare, contact me and forget what I said about high price.)
So, I'm looking for something that would look "period correct", allow enough air through to do the job and be able to hook up my rocker cover breather hose..... Bonus points if I can source on this side of the swamp. (North America. But, that's not a deal breaker.)
So, those of you with twins, whatcha using?

Nigel,
Thanks for the offer. I suppose I should've come back here and posted that we have it sorted. Found a Cooper airbox over at Nick's Min-e-bitz... A bit pricey but not as dear as I've seen 'em go for.
Now, to wait on the carb rebuilder/polisher & the exhaust manifold.... and sending the manifold out for coating.... I figure that I should have it up 'n running on twins by the end of the decade.

Hi Robin,
Glad you got fixed up at Nick's, have you received it yet? If so was it ok?
Cheers

Yes, the airbox arrived in outstanding condition. (As expected. I've had dealings in the past with Nick)
This is what it's going to pretty much cover up:

A few more pieces to gather together & we'll try it out. I figure that, if it doesn't brighten up the 850 much, I can always flog 'em to someone else.
