Petrol (Fuel) cap question?
Ok so I was starting to get it ready to put in the garage extension. Checked to see how much fuel was in the tank (about a 1/3) and put some Stabil in it tank. I then noticed there is a cardboard like seal material that was a little skew.
I carefully put it back into place. I am worried that the cardboard type material will deteriorate and wind up in the tank. It is not a concern for the winter, but would like to know if I am crazy (given) or if there is a neater solution. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

That's the standard material on all top fill tank caps. Mines never degenerated particularly and I've never worried about it

Re: Petrol (Fuel) cap question?
Hi Matt,
I think there are various types of seal available, the cardboard one, there's a cork one and a rubber type. I've got a cork one on at the moment as my cardboard one rucked up and split, I find that if you put a smear of grease on the seal it works better, especially if the cap is a little tight.
Our spares manager Mark Peacock used to stock the various types, you could try and PM him.
This place in the US stock them
