SU Carb set up

Post by peterbradbury »

Has anyone a good guide to setting up a HS2? The Moke has always run a bit rich, I had a go with a colourtune and made it a lot worse, it hardly runs now! Having passed a Moke on the road while out in the Mini today I want mine back!

Peter. I always use a rolling road session, as I have a very good one near where I live

Thats the end plan, I'd just like to get it well set up enough to get to an MOT station and use lightly over summer. The nearest rolling road to me I know is Minisport, which I've heard good & bad on.

When fitting a carb from new, I was always told to screw the jet right up to the body then turn it back 2.5 turns, this should give a reasonable mixture to start the engine, then adjust from there.

Peter, the SU website has a good description of how to set up your carb, the link is below. They are also very good for any spare parts you may require.
