English Moke - Maniflow exhaust lacks bark

Post by Slow Smoke Moke »

1275 GT motor with an HIF 44 carb, not sure what any internal modifications might be but.....

I fitted the following system last year:

Maniflow Std bore LCB manifold (Mini Spares C-AEG365) 1-3/4" id.
Maniflow twin box side exit (Mini Spares C-ARA337) 1-7/8" id.

This was what was recommended by MS after some discussion on the phone.

All works OK but it lacks that crisp Mini bark, especially on overrun.

Can I simply get the local garage to remove the centre box and replace it with a length of joining pipe, or will it not make much difference?

Comments welcome.

Thanks,

Nick

It might be worth a try. I’ve got a maniflow , direct from them, and it’s only got the one silencer. I mean, really, it’s not like these modern boxes with cats and stuff in there that give you an MOT fail if you remove anything

We went out in the pair of them this afternoon and ye, my Exhaust does sound a lot nicer and turned more heads than the farty standard one on Hilary’s moke.
