Dunlop wheels doesn’t fit Moke portugal

Post by Roman »

We restored some original wheels
5D9AAA64-6491-4D63-89B5-1B5539154135.jpeg
From Dunlop which should fit to our Moke Portugal 87: TW7XKF 328S 681067

Unfortunately the brake caliber in front is to big for the them.

Any idea how to fix that issue may be with smaller calibers or Track extensions?

Thanks for your support

The Portuguese moke has 8.4” discs and therefore needs 12” wheel rims to clear the calipers, as you’ve discovered. If you want to use the 10” wheel rims you will have to fit a set of 7.5” discs and calipers ( as fitted to mini coopers in the olden days
They are available new from all the major mini suppliers.......go scare yourself with the price of them

Also, do not forget that the Portuguese has a Diff suitable for 12" wheels, and your Speedo will be out with 10" wheels.

The 'height' of the tire/tyre [road to metal wheel/rim] will also have to be taken into consideration.

Be careful when fitting a wheel and tire that is overall larger than the size that the manufacturer used. Larger ones can enlarge your turning circle and also rub on the inner wings.

Thing is. Aussie mokes should have a steering rack with stops fitted inside it, this stops the inner wing rubbing but gives a larger turning circle. If at some stage in its history your moke has had its rack replaced it may well have had a standard mini one fitted and that’s why you get rubbing.
The solution these days is to fit a steering rack for a “sports pack” mini as this has the stops fitted

I have an 'Aussie' style Mini Moke and the tire do rub if turned excessively. You learn to minimize it.
