Re: Prototype Moke 1963 rare find???
I see that the listing has been slightly amended....it still says prototype moke but has lost the "One of only Two built" ...
Rare Mini Moke
1963 Factory Prototype
So now the only errors are:
rare
moke
1963
factory and prototype
not too bad?

Re: Prototype Moke 1963 rare find???
I asked Marc for the chassis number and engine number and he replied saying:
Chassis number M/AE4/349077
Engine number 8AMUH1112558
The car vehicle registration document shows its date of registration to be the 14 March 1963
If it was indeed a prototype then it would have a chassis number with a prefix SPL. However It doesn't even have the correct chassis and engine number prefixes to be a Moke of any variety, even if it had been a Moke and been rebodied at some point. Roger

Good idea Dave....Getting nearer the heading still reads:
RARE MINI MOKE MORRIS BLUE
1963 PROTOTYPE MOKE
but at least the description now reads:
Rare Mini Moke
1963
WHICH IT IS NOT of course!

Re: Prototype Moke 1963 rare find???
It's ended - no bids..... and relisted http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1963-MINI-MOK ... 1c230210b7
This time it has been described as being a Rare Mini Moke that has benefitted from a Jimini conversion on the donor chassis.... (we looked every where for said chassis but only found a monocoque ) Anyway, the chassis number that supposedly confirms it to be a Moke has been added: M/AE4/349077 As far as I know, all English Mokes are either A or M, then B1..... I find no correllation with any Mini related product and AE4. And... doesn't the sequential number exceed the maximum for English Moke production..... should be up to 014xxx shouldn't it?
Let's see what it does this time..... although I don't see what is so wrong with this car just being advertised as a Jimini in it's own right. A Jimini driver in the know of what he's got... and there ain't nowt wrong with a Jimini... there's not many around..... would most probably have as much fun as a Moke driver

Probably the seller has bought it thinking they'd got a Moke and now want to get their wasted money back

Re: Prototype Moke 1963 rare find???
Marc should be ashamed of himself. We have loads of legislation in the UK protecting consumers against such fraudulent activity as this. No dealer would legally be able to sell this Jimini as a Moke and yet somehow it is acceptable on eBay.
I think the story of this Jimini is probably as follows: Someone reshelled a 1963 Mini into a Jimini and a helpful member of staff at the local DVLA office thought it looked like a Moke and so registered it as that.
Marc knows that this vehicle of his is not a Moke and is not a prototype. Furthermore the chassis and body numbers confirm this. Yet he continues to imply that it is somehow a Moke and somehow a pre-production model.
The age-old adage âbuyer bewareâ has never had more relevance.

Re: Prototype Moke 1963 rare find???
Talk to most nonMoke folk and they think if it's got no doors or a roof it's a Moke. A bit like the Hoover description for vacuum cleaners.
Under this ruling most golf carts count as Mokes

1 hour and 10 minutes to go for the second try...... in the (almost same, but quite different) words of Murray Walker: "Anything can happen and probably...... WON'T!"
Honestly... next time around, I'm sure that if Marc lists it correctly, it may sell.... at a correct price.

Hi Jan. yes you where right, did not sell, oh dear never mind. As an aside. I was trawling Ebay New Zealand, and it was for sale on there as well, but did not see it on Ebay Australia.
