Distributer type ?

Post by Doug G »

I am a bit lost here.

My Mini Moke is circa 1973.

According to Mini Sport catalogue:

The dristributer is a standard one.

The rotor arm appears to be a 25D type.

The Contact set appears to be a 59D type

The Condensor appears to be a 45D/59D type

What is the difference between a 25D type, a 45D type and a 59D type?

If they are so different types how does the mixture of parts above work in my Mini Moke?

Doug Mini Sport is a British company, your Moke was made in Australia. It should be fitted with an Australian distributor not an English one but Mini Sport probably don't know that.

It should have a Lucas Australia 29D

Why not take the bits out of the dizzy, then you can compare them with the ones sold over here and buy 10 sets of them
Or you could go to Australia instead

Assuming you have a 29D the points and condensor are the same as for a 25D. You need a GL256 Rotor arm and a GL278 distributor cap.

There's a flat bit on the body, just below the cap, from memory, where the number is stamped on.
Usually disguised with muck and generally invisible unless the engine is out of the car
