A week ago I sold a 1997 Suzuki
(This is a similar vehicle but NOT mine )
for £1,800.00.
to a Frenchman. Je ne regrette rien.
I saw it advertised yesterday on a poster in a supermarket.
OK the little bump in the plastic rear bumper had been pushed out and seat seam restitched.
I phoned him up
He is asking for £3,200.00.
A 78% mark up
He called me back (he did not recognize my voice or number) a few minutes later and said he could negotiate a bit.
I will think about it, bye.
Good luck to him
Negatives (I showed him all these when I sold it to him):
It had two torn seams in the front seats (could be restitched).
Driver's side seat belt needs replacing.
A/C is faulty (I had it working but it now probably needs a new switch - a major cost to fix here).
Radio is a cheap replacement.
ABS has been bypassed by garage.
Roof paint clear coat paint is peeling.
Gear lever knob has a split (found after garage replaced timing belt)
Engine has a slight oil leak (cup a month).
Je ne regrette rien.

Re: Mark up ! !
I bought a 5 year old Ford Escape with a 3 litre engine (approx 14 mpg and thats without a lead foot but with A/C on full ).
OK so I put a few more beer tokens together to buy it. Thankfully, I do not do too many miles per year.

Re: Mark up ! !
As much as the next person is willing to pay for it.
Seriously
The situation with cars prices here is that you have to pay 85% tax on the CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight costs) plus £1200.00 (environmental Tax) if it is older than 3 years.
I worked out that if you bought a clunker for £100.00 in Miami and shipped it here it would cost you £2,200.00 before you paid the £75.00 road tax or any insurance to put it on the road.
