Hi,
Have fitted new wheel beraings to existing 1968 rear hubs. The bearings are the tapered ones with extra shoulder to avoid the spacer, however, I understand that the oil seal should be fitted with the groove on the outside (to face the backplate) and solid shoulder against the bearing ( the other way round to normal ) Is this correct? and is it just for tapered bearings?

Re: Rear wheel bearings
That all sounds far too complex for me to work out at 9:45 on a weekday evening as I should be in bed in 15 mins.. All I would say until I re-read this tomorrow is that there is a good picture in the Haynes Mini comicbook. I sed it for my rebuild.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I belive it is preventing the water comming in instead the grease going out (logic).
