MKI Moke

Post by Pilonix »

Hi all

First of all, I would like to present my joke and myself.

I love classic cars and drive a 1980 Alfa Spider.

I have a Mini Moke project, very rusty and incomplete. It does not have any document nor id numbers

I am thinking about restore it , but I want to know if it is a real Mini Moke, or it is not worth to do it. I taught in a pre production car, or a swap chassis project, but reading one post in this site, some of you talk about kit cars.

Do you know if there were for sale kits to build a Moke from a standard Mini?

All the information you can give me will be really useful. I want to be sure about the car before start the restoration.

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards

First of all, welcome to the forum. I'm sure the current residents and regulars will be able to help you. Though, as you said, it will be much easier with a few pictures. In the meantime have you any more information you can give us about it?

Welcome from another sunny land inhabitant :)

Post photos, we like to see them.

I'm currently restoring a basket case '67 Moke.... it's tough going but the result will be worthwhile.

In relation to parts you can find everything available from excellent reproduction panels cut to factory spec from the UK, to a complete plastic/fibre shell from China.

Good luck!

Hi. The car now is in a barn, partially dismantled. The engine turns, and, as you can see, there is rust in the drivers floor, but the rest is OK with no damage. The speedo is not original, and all the electrics, windscreen, bumpers, etc.. have benn removed to protect them.

There is a lot of work!!!!, that's why I would like to know if it is woth the time and the moke

Your pictures don't seem to work (I can't see them on my machine, at least) perhaps it would be better if you upload them to the gallery

Pilonix, Nigel is referring to my propensity to ask questions, so just ask as many questions as you like.

I did just that and everyone has been extremely helpful in providing information (some even offering help).

Ask away.

Oh and please take photos and post them here, and/or even make a report and submit it to the Editor of 'Moking' you will have to join the Club but your adventure could be published in 'Moking' magazine.

You have a great adventure ahead.

Parts arte readily available.
Having a moking good time!

Hi all

Thank you very much for your help. I have an epic restoration to do, and I hope you can see the advances.

I will open a post when I have the car in my garage at home. I need some space so one of the classics has to leave the garage during the restoration. I think in one month or so I will have everything prepared.

Regards.

Ricardo
