BMC and Leyland Show at Gaydon on Sunday 6th July
Sorry about this but my original posts on this event seem to have disappeared, not being one to point fingers but it was Nigel!
This was a great show last year, so this year we are making it an official Club event.
From the web site:-
‘’The BMC and Leyland Show is a real car enthusiast's show, which celebrates all the fantastic marques that came from all pre-1952 BMC era. Including British Leyland, the Rover group and includes commercial and military vehicles. The show has something for everyone…
• Mini Concours with £100 cash prize
• Up to 80 different Marques
• Autojumble and trade stands
• Cowley Convoy from BMW Mini Cowley to the Heritage Motor Centre
• 10 vehicles from the Heritage Motor Centre reserve collection.
This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Austin Morris 1800 and we hope to have up to 35 Austin Morris 1800s on display on the day. It is also the 30th Anniversary of the Austin Montego and we are going to have the last Montego off the production line on display within the museum.’’
Details about the show are available on the Heritage web site at:-
http://www.bmcandleylandshow.co.uk/
I have made contact with the organiser at Gaydon and although the 'usual limit' on clubs attending is 6 cars and drivers in for free, if we can let them know the numbers before 1st June we may get a few more in (I will not know how many we can get in for free until beginning of June, but if we have to pay for a few then we can share the cost among all those attending).
So can anyone wishing to attend please let me know and send me your contact details (pm me) before June, as the tickets will come to me, thanks.
As it is the 50th anniversary of the Moke this year they say they are going to add the details to their web page and hopefully their flyers for the event.
Camping is available for the Saturday night at £25.
Also if any Mokes want to join the ‘Cowley Convoy they will need to contact Alan Webb Moore at cowleyconvoy@live.co.uk. Once you arrive at Gaydon in the convoy, you will be directed to the Moke Club enclave, let me know if you are going on the convoy as we will need to allow room for you.
Cheers

Re: BMC and Leyland Show at Gaydon on Sunday 6th July
Hi All,
We are now three mokes!
I have had to book our places so I have booked for six mokes in the hope that we can get some late comers joining us (let me know if you are one).
Can you mokers out there please let me know why the lack of interest in this event.
Is it because its too near the IMM?
is it because it is a turn up and show type of event?
is it due to the location?
is it because we've had an event there before?
is it due to the camping being £25 for the Sat night?
I could do with knowing these things to find out what people prefer in events, so please let me have your input and suggestions.
Cheers

Hi Wesley,
I fully understand! You go to many UK events as it is. I am trying to find out why there is a poor response from the members in and around the midlands, perhaps we are looking at the wrong type of events, if so we need some guidance from the people out there.
Cheers

Hi,
I now have the vehicle passes for the show on 6th July. There are 3 spare vehicle passes and 1 'support' vehicle pass i.e. for anyone wanting to trailer their Moke.
Anyone wanting a pass PM me your details and I will send them out in the post.
Cheers

Hi Chris,
Will call around my region for support. I'll be there with event shelter and merchandise. I may bring 2 Mokes if we're short on numbers - but I gather it's looking like rain on Sunday? Not that I'm worried about wet, but my English is still not charging battery and I don't know how long a full charge would last using an FW2 for an hour or so....

Jan, we still have a box of merchandise and some books. Do you want us to bring these, instead of you loading up your Moke.

Can you imagine... ?
Functions: pedals= ok, high beam = left foot, steering wheel = right hand, magic wand = left hand - normal conditions... = disengage FW2, switch to 'on', re-engage FW2 (clear 5% of the screen ) battery dies.... disengage FW2, use teeth to wipe windscreen
Cheers,

How many books and how much merchandise? I can bring some more of both - will you keep some of the stock for other events or am I taking it all back again?grantourer wrote:Jan, we still have a box of merchandise and some books. Do you want us to bring these, instead of you loading up your Moke.

Re: BMC and Leyland Show at Gaydon on Sunday 6th July
We had four Mokes at the show, as well as fabulous weather!
The show itself was not as well attended, by the public and display vehicles, as last year which was disappointing.
However, there was a lot of interest in the Mokes and some regalia and a book were sold!
Contrary to the weather forcast I didnt even get wet on the trip home which was definately a bonus!
Will put some pics on the gallery later.
Thanks to those that came along and made it a good day out!
Cheers
