Preliminary Itinerary

Hello Everyone

As promised a preliminary itinerary for the Falmouth National.

Preliminary program of events: -

Friday 29th July:
Members arrive from various destinations. Meet at Penance Mill Caravan and Camping Park (TR11 5HJ) just outside the town of Falmouth, 2minutes from the seaside!

7.30 pm Extra-large pasties for everyone at the evening get together to help get over the long journey with full relaxation facilities provided.

Saturday 30th July: 9.30 am
Meet up in Falmouth’s Events Square by the Martine Museum (TR11 3QY) to be welcomed by the Mayor of Falmouth and the press before setting off on a Treasure Hunt to Lands End along the ‘Smugglers and Tinner’s Way’. This is a very light hearted journey’ only looking for observational clues and points of special interest. The drive will take about 2 hours and the emphasis will be on driving through spectacular scenery and coastal roads –ideal Moking terrain.
Once at Lands End (TR19 7AA) there is an opportunity for lunch and of course the now customary Moke Club photo’ opportunity at the Lands’ End Mile Post.
Return to Falmouth via Penzance and St Michaels Mount for the early evening ‘National 16’ Celebratory meal at the Boslowick Inn (TR11 4PZ) just a few minutes from the campsite. There is a choice of options from a comprehensive menu.
Prizes will be awarded here for the following: - Winner of the Treasure Hunt and following votes handed in at the events square ---Best English, Best Australian and Best Rover /Cagiva Moke There is also a prize for the Moke that has travelled the greatest distance (not on a trailer).

Sunday 31st July: 11.00am
Meet up at the campsite (TR11 5HJ) and then set off to St Mawes (TR2 5DE) the home of the rich and famous via the King Harry ferry which crosses the river Fal. On route we will stop for lunch in a Pub.

Monday 1st August:
For those who are staying a little longer, a trip to the Lizard TR12 7NT) again via the back roads and again a stop for lunch on route.

There is also a chance in the early part of the day for those who like a challenge to spend an hour or so learning to operate a JCB digger at a nearby heavy plant training centre in Lamanva (TR10 9BJ) . The owner of which is also a Moke owner.

As always with events such as this minor changes may take place between now and July but these will be updated to you as they occur. A full and complete ‘Survival Pack’ containing all you need to know will be issued on your arrival.

Just looked at the ferry prices Roscoff-Plymouth. £612 return car and trailer or £500 for the Moke on its own And that's travelling mid week on both crossings to avoid the expensive weekend sailings!

I know it's holiday season but

Are there no other routes that would be cheaper but may involve more driving? Portsmouth - Le Havre or Portsmouth - Caen?
Note more driving in the Moke = more fun!

Well everyone is of the same mind, so we just wanted to add to it.
Massive "thank you" from both of us for a superb weekend, loved the treasure hunt and the diggers ! and it was great to catch up with old friends and meet some Moke people we had never met before.
I can only imagine how hard all the Bastin family worked so hope you are all having a well deserved rest now.
John and Helen you have set the standard really high this year, so lets hope we can keep it up for 2017
