It is my grandfather's axe/ Mini Moke

Post by Doug G »

The axe head has been replaced twice and the handle once.

When 'repairing' a Mini Moke there are quite a lot of areas that need replacing EG:

Replacing the floor pan or any of the panels or sections that 'Moke Panels' sells.
Replacing the bonnet.
Replacing the front and rear axles, suspension etc.
Replacing the seats.
Replacing the engine.
Replacing the gearbox.
Replacing the clutch.
Replacing the fuel tank.
Replacing the engine.
Replacing the wiring loom.
Installing used parts on one vehicle another.
Replacing basically any part on the vehicle.

So if one replaces all of these things and everything else, except the VIN plate or the bit of metal it is stamped on, at what point do you stop having the 'original' vehicle?

It is my grandfather's axe, but is is reasonable to do so for a Mini Moke restoration without crossing the line of 'ringing' ?
