my 2nd moke

Post by mick west »

Well all, I am now the proud owner of a yellow/rusty, 1965 (I hope)south african moke. I have started to strip it, it is in need of total strip down, blast and priming and welding and so on! and on!
I am likely to need some assistance in registration in the far future, as there are no vin tags on the moke.I have a s/a registration for it. There is a stamped in number on the o/s inner wing, which I have not yet got round to recording.

I hope my pic has attached it self! :?:

hi, no top, Yes, indeed it is, where else could you buy so much rust and crap that forms a shape of a moke!?
Its not to bad, I have to say.
As you are a head poncho, any ideas to obtain a heritage cert. or is this going to be difficult due to no vin plates?

The usual way would be to send off to gaydon, but as you say, they would need the VIN number. Plus, I can tell you from when I sent off for details for my South African all they can tell you is it was shipped CKD to South Africa. So you don't gain much really

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for that, I have now found a chassis number, stamped on the o/s inner wing, there is also a set of numbers stamped on the bulkhead behind the master cylinders, does your s/a have numbers in the same place?
Forgive my ignorance , I do not know how to contact gaydon ?
