Recommended oil etc for a +/-1973 998cc Mini Moke engine?

Post by Doug G »

What is the recommended oil 20/50 etc for a +/-1973 998cc Mini Moke engine in a HOT climate?

Is 'Synthetic' oil better or worse?

Just use a decent brand 20W50 oil, change it at the recommended mileage intervals and you should be fine. BMC spent many many pounds in optimising the oil grades for the A series engine.
If you’re really worried why not fit an oil cooler? Just be sure to fit a thermostat in the system too.

Not so worried about the oil temperature but more on the ability to 'minimize' further wear in the engine. :(
