Pontoon side cover fit

Post by Willie_B »

When I put the rubber seal trim on the opening the side cover sits away from the body too much. The rubber is a bit on the hard side so it does not compress much at all. Is there a different seal that is softer or would just regular foam the sticks on work ok?

The club spares keep new seals of the correct profile and as it’s new the rubber is nice and soft

Hi Nigel, I looked for the rubber seal trim in the parts section and couldn't find it.
The bonnet hinges are there now however.

In the interim, Marzipan is an excellent substitute and can be easily peeled from the top of the Xmas cake

Got the side cover seals in from the club. Much more compliant and softer. The cover will fit much closer and better with this material.
Thanks for letting me know about it.

Hi, sorry to hijack the post.
I have a 1988 Portuguese Moke. It has a lockable boot, lockable battery compartment but the other pontoon cover is fitted with dzus fasteners.
I’d like to hinge this cover and add a lock in a similar way to the battery box, has anybody done this? Does anyone have a suggestion of the best way to do this?

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi, due to lockdown, I haven’t seen my moke until this week. The battery cover is longer than the front cover and so would not fit properly. Is anybody producing new covers or is it all old new stock? I just wondered whether I could get a small cover made without the holes and with the battery cover hinge bulges pressed in? Who should I contact?

Thanks in anticipation

MokePanels list a side bin cover. You could try contacting Leo and ask him if he could supply one without the dzus holes pressed in
