Were there any Mini Mokes manufactured in UK with automatic gearboxes?

Were there any Mini Mokes manufactured in Australia with automatic gearboxes?

Were there any Mini Mokes manufactured in Portugal with automatic gearboxes?

I don't think so. There were none in Australia - at least there was no production run. The factory could have made the odd one or two to special order but if there were any, they weren't sold to the public in the usual way. I'm pretty certain none of the UK ones were autos either.

The automatic gearboxes were pretty rubbish. They were expensive, wasted power (can you believe they had automatic 850 Minis?) and required far too much maintenance.

BNicho (occasionally on here) converted his Moke to automatic - for novelty value as much as anything - I think. The gearbox didn't last all that well though and I think he changed it back to a manual just to save the hassle of repairing the crappy auto transmission.
