Engine idles but dies when put into gear

Post by Doug G »

Enginge starts and idles and reeves just fine.

However will not go into 1st or 2nd gear.

If put into 3rd gear on level ground the engine stalls immediately.

Suggestions.

Hi,when you say it won't go in first or second are the gears jamming or grinding, and third gear are you trying to pull away or does the car try to move when it goes in third and stalls.could just be clutch adjustment needed or the ball end on the clutch arm worn.be good to get a bit more information on your fault.

What happens if you put it into first gear, then start it with the clutch pressed in? (Do this in the open and don't let anyone stand in front).

Will it go into reverse?

Mini Moke is in Nevis currently getting some mechanical work done.

The Mini Moke is STILL in Nevis currently supposedly getting some mechanical work done.

I got a list of parts. I got a friend to bring out the parts from UK.

Got the parts over to the mechanic over a month and a half ago.

Mañana

adverb
adverb: mañana
In the indefinite future (used to indicate procrastination).

However apparently here in St.Kitts & Nevis, we don't need a word with that sense of urgency.
