Hood advice for English Moke appreciated

Post by Nigel K »

I have a Mk 2 English Moke which I'm getting back on the road after a few years. The hood could really do with replacing (the one it had when I bought her was badly vandalised one night so I ended up getting one from Runamoke and fitted myself - not that successfully with more flapping that I would like.

So I'm looking for someone to supply and fit (unless someone here is good at fitting them if I can source one?). Or should I be looking for someone (recommendations?) who can custom make one (possibly from the existing as rough template - IDK?).

To make decision making more difficult although its a Mk2 it does have those perspex wind deflectors. The drivers side one is broken and I am in two minds whether to put new ones on or stay "original". I've always had them so don't know any better as to if they make it better (guessing you get more visibility when the sides are on?)

While on the subject of sides with/without wind deflectors how compatible are the hoods (I'm guessing they aren't really) between English and the later models? Asking as the sides I have at the moment the doors have zips left and right and they flapped about and hit the paint, where as the newer models seem to have different zipper arrangements - e.g. like a C shape.

Sorry theres quite a few questions but I'm at a loss of what to do and any advice would be great.
